Asian Caramelized wings
There are recipes whose taste is staying in your mouth and even after many years you can’t forget them. I’ll tell you a story: Years ago I was in a hotel in Eilat and for dinner you can choose at which restaurant in the hotel you want to eat in.
We went to an Asian-style restaurant and I ordered wings. At first glance they looked amazing. Look at their color, Wouldn’t you order them? A pile of halved wings arrived without a fork or a knife, and I
immediately started eating. It was amazing!
The strong flavors, the colors, the softness of the wings. You can’t forget something like that. I was
determined to make it at home and I managed to do it, not to mention that it was much cheaper.
Do you like wings? Go make it and the result is nothing less than perfect.
3-4 servings
Ingredients:
Kilo (a little more is possible) wings, halved and cleaned of feathers (about 15 units)
A quarter cup of orange juice
2 tablespoons of brown demerara sugar
1/4 cup of water
A tablespoon of teriyaki sauce
100 g of tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
2 teaspoons of crushed garlic
A tablespoon of hot chili sauce
1/3 cup of 5% vinegar
3 tablespoons of soy sauce (Kikkoman)
Preparation:
1. I recommend using a wide, low-sided sauté pan to heat the sugar and water, bring to a boil, cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved and there is a golden liquid, add the vinegar, orange juice, tomato paste, soy sauce, garlic and chili.
2. Mix until everything comes together for about 2-3 minutes with a gentle simmer.
3. Preheat oven to 190 degrees.
4. Add the wings to the pot in a single layer (remember sautéing?) Cook for 5 minutes, turn and cook for another 5 minutes. If the pot is suitable for the oven, put it in as is and bake for about 30 minutes.
5. If the pot is not suitable for the oven, arrange the wings in a pan next to each other, pour the remaining sauce over them and bake for about 30 minutes.
