Cabbage in Tomato Sauce
One of the best things you can do with cabbage is to cook it in a sauce. The cabbage does get soft but it still keeps a bit of its crunch, which is the secret to this recipe. You feel the crunch in every bite and it’s delicious.
Cabbage is a great side dish to almost any entree – schnitzel, fish, chicken.
A simple and tasty accompaniment to any meal, the kind that leaves you wanting more.
Makes 5-6 servings
Ingredients:
1 medium cabbage
2 onions
2 cloves of garlic
1 tsp flour
1 Tbsp tomato paste
2 tomatoes
1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
1 – 2 cups water
1 Tbsp Moroccan paprika
1 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp chicken bouillon
Ground black pepper
Salt (if needed, to taste)
Preparation:
1. Chop the cabbage. I put it in a colander and wash it thoroughly in the sink, to avoid any unpleasant surprises later on.
2. Pour 5 Tbsp of oil into a heated pan. Add the cabbage and sauté for a few minutes. While stirring, the cabbage will shrink down.
3. Chop the onion and add to the cabbage. Sauté for two minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Chop the tomatoes and add to the cabbage. Add the other ingredients. Cook for 20 minutes on medium heat.
