Chocolate cake that kids love
Do you know that I have been making this cake for over ten years? It’s one of the easiest cakes I’ve come across.
You mix everything in a bowl with a spoon. No need for any special equipment or hard work. The cake comes out chocolaty and moist.
I love these kinds of cakes that take just 5 minutes to prepare and the oven does the rest.
A 22 cm baking pan
Preparation time: Around 50 minutes
Ingredients:
3 eggs
120 ml oil (1/2 cup)
240 ml water (1 cup)
210 grams self-raising flour (1.5 cups)
2 tsp vanilla sugar
1/2 cup chocolate drink mix powder (like Nesquik)
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
300 grams sugar (1 /1/2 cups)
Chocolate cream:
150 ml whipping cream (1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp)
150 grams bittersweet chocolate
Preparation:
1. Preheat an oven to 180°C.
2. Place all the wet ingredients in one bowl and the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Mix the contents in each bowl and then add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir until combined.
2. Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake in the oven for around 45 minutes.
*3. Heat the cream in a saucepan until it almost reaches a boil and then pour over the chocolate. Mix until well combined and then pour evenly over the cake.
Think it could be any easier? No way…
Good to know…
If you want to make the cake in a mixer, place all the ingredients in the bowl of the mixer and beat on low speed until well combined. The cake is freezer-friendly. The cake is also great without the frosting.
