Chocolate chip cake

Craving something sweet? I’d go for a chocolate chip cake. The kind that goes really well with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
It only takes 5-10 minutes to prep for the oven. The chocolate chips really add a lot, you can taste them in every bite!
It’s hard to stop eating this cake, especially when it’s fresh out of the oven.

A 24 cm baking pan


180 grams butter
4 large eggs
200 grams sugar (1 cup)
250 ml whipping cream / 1 cup orange juice
2 tsp vanilla extract
270 grams flour (2 cups minus 1 Tbsp)
2 tsp baking powder + another pinch
3/4 cup chocolate chips


1. Preheat an oven to 180°C.

2. Take the butter out of the fridge around 30-40 minutes before baking so it can soften.

3. Place the butter in the bowl of a mixer, add the sugar and cream together for a minute with the paddle attachment. Add the other ingredients, start with the eggs and then the other ingredients (other than the chocolate chips) and mix until well combined and there are no lumps.

4. Add the chocolate chips and give it a quick mix. The batter will be very thick.

5. Evenly transfer to a greased baking tin and bake for around 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
