Let me just say that I made these rolls and piled them up in a bowl on the table. I didn’t even have to call the children, the smell brought them to the kitchen!
They followed their noses in search of the amazing aroma of freshly baked bread, which brought them straight to these.
Every mom needs to have a recipe handy for homemade rolls in her arsenal, and this is just the one.
Makes 48 pieces
500 grams flour (3.5 cups + 1 Tbsp)
11 grams dry yeast (1 Tbsp) OR 25 grams fresh yeast (1/2 packet)
100 grams sugar (1/2 cup)
1 tsp salt
80 ml oil (1/3 cup)
230 ml water (1 cup minus 1 Tbsp)
1 egg, beaten
1. Place the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in the bowl of a mixer, add the oil and water and mix until you get a soft smooth dough. Cover and let rise for 1.5-2 hours on the kitchen counter-top.
2. Divide the dough into three parts. Let rise for 15 minutes and roll each part out into 26 cm diameter circles. Cut each circle into 16 triangles (like cutting pizza slices). Take a triangle and roll from the wider base to the pointed tip and place on a baking tray.
3. Let rise for 15 minutes while preheating the oven. Brush the rolls with the egg wash.
4. Bake for 20 minutes until golden.
