Israeli couscous bolognese

This is a recipe for bolognese that my kids really love and that features regularly at my table. I think it’s even better than the pasta.
The Israeli couscous soaks up all the sauce and it tastes even better. Plus, it’s so easy to make!
This is a simple recipe that doesn’t require much effort and the kids love it.

Makes 5 servings

Ingredients:

500 grams ground beef
2 cups pearl couscous / Israeli couscous
1 onion
1 tsp minced garlic
2 carrots
3/4 cup water
1 Tbsp ketchup sauce
1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
1 heaped tsp paprika
1 Tbsp chicken bouillon
Ground black pepper
Salt (if needed, to taste)

Preparation:

1. Chop the onion, put 3 Tbsp of oil in a pan and sauté the onion until golden. Add the garlic, grate the carrot on the large holes of a box grater and add to the onion. Sauté for around two minutes while stirring.

2. Add the meat while breaking it up, sauté while stirring until the meat is cooked through.

3. Add the other ingredients and cook for 10-15 minutes while stirring.

4. Prepare the Israeli couscous according to the instructions and mix with the meat. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
