Kid-Friendly Rolls
These are super cute! I’ve been cooking for so long that it takes a lot to get me truly excited about something I make. But these are special.
The rolls are adorable and the kids were ecstatic about them.
These would be great served when entertaining, Hanukkah is coming up and imagine how many compliments you’ll get if you serve these skewer rolls to your guests!
They’re not complicated to make and my advice is to double the recipe because everyone loves them.
Don’t forget to add skewers to your shopping list just for these.
Makes 10 rolls
Ingredients:
350 grams flour (2.5 cups)
1/2 Tbsp dry yeast / 1/3 packet of fresh yeast
70 ml oil (a little more than 1/4 cup)
180 ml warm water (3/4 cup)
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 Tbsp salt
1 egg, beaten
Sesame seeds
Skewers
Preparation:
1. Place the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt and other ingredients in the bowl of a mixer and mix on low speed for a few minutes until you get a soft smooth dough. Let rise for around 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
2. Divide the dough into 10 pieces, roll each piece into an oval shape and then roll it into a 30 cm roll. Once they’re all ready, roll a bit more and lengthen the roll to 33 cm.
3. Wrap the roll onto the skewer and let rise for around 15 minutes. In the meantime, preheat an oven to 180°C.
4. Brush with the egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for around 20 minutes or until golden.
