Orange rice
One of my favorite side dishes is rice. It’s so easy to make, it pairs perfectly with so many entrees, and best of all my kids love it. One minute of prep time, at most, and the stove does the rest.
I said it was super easy, didn’t I? Obviously I made a few more things to go with the rice because you can’t really eat rice on its own, can you?
Makes 5 servings
Takes 20 minutes
Ingredients:
2 cups rice
4-5 Tbsp oil
3 cups water
1 Tbsp paprika
1/3 tsp turmeric
1 Tbsp chicken bouillon / 1 heaped tsp salt
1 Tbsp honey
Ground black pepper
Preparation:
1. Heat a pan with oil, add the rice and stir.
2. Add the spices, honey and water, bring to a boil, cover and lower the heat.
*3. Cook for 18 minutes, turn off the heat, and leave covered for another 10 minutes.
Served with liver with potatoes, fish schnitzel, mushroom barley soup, and vegetable salad.
Good to know…
You can make this the day before. If you’re not a fan of sweet, don’t worry the rice isn’t sweet. Use either chicken bouillon or salt, not both. A great and easy side dish.
