Red Rice Noodles Recipe

This is a great side dish. It’s super tasty and the combination of noodles and rice is a real winner. It only takes 5 minutes to t prep and the stove does the rest. A perfect accompaniment to lunch or dinner.

Makes 5 servings


1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
2 cups rice
3 cups water
1/2 cup thin noodles
1 Tbsp Moroccan paprika
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 Tbsp honey
Ground black pepper
2 tsp salt


1. Dice the onion. Heat 4 Tbsp of oil in a pan and add the onion. Sauté until golden. Chop the garlic and add to the pan.

2. Add the noodles and sauté for around a minute, stirring, until the noodles are golden. Add the rice, spices, honey and water. Bring to a boil, cover and lower the heat.

*3. Cook for around 18 minutes, turn off the heat and leave covered for another 10 minutes.

Served with mushroom barley soup, chicken thigh shawarma, and oven-baked potato.

Good to know…
You can make this the day before. If you’re not a fan of sweet, don’t worry the rice isn’t sweet.
