Rice with noodles recipe

This is such a great side dish. I love making rice for lunch, it’s one of the simplest and tastiest things.
A few years ago I started adding noodles to rice. What can I tell you, it really took the rice up a notch, both in appearance and taste.
Keep a package of thin noodles in your pantry, it lasts for a long time and whenever you make rice, add some to the dish.
What I like about this dish is that everything cooks together in the same pot. You don’t have to dirty extra dishes.
The simple things in life are the best, aren’t they?
Who said that you need to work hard for good food?


2 cups Jasmine / Persian rice
1/2 cup thin noodles
3 cups water
Ground black pepper
2 tsp salt


1. Heat an 18 cm diameter pot with 2-3 Tbsp of oil and add the noodles. Stir constantly until the noodles change color to golden. Pay attention because it happens quickly, so don’t leave the pot unattended.

2. Add the rice, water, salt and bring to a boil. Cover and lower the heat to low. Cook for around 18 minutes and leave covered for an additional 10 minutes.

3. Prepare with basmati rice (which is what I did in the video clip) 2 cups water for each cup of rice, cook for 30 minutes and leave covered for an additional 10 minutes.

What did I serve it with? The best schnitzels in the world

Good to know…
You can make this a day before. You can leave out the noodles. One Tbsp of honey or maple will sweeten it mildly.
