Schnitzel balls
Why not make these addictive little balls of joy for your next meal?
These small, tender, juicy and golden balls are easy to make and a favorite among kids and adults.
You won’t believe how excited my kids were to have these for lunch with some spaghetti on the side.
Makes 20 patties
Ingredients:
600 grams ground chicken breast
1 potato
1 small onion
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1 Tbsp ketchup
1 Tbsp chicken bouillon
Ground black pepper
Salt (if needed, to taste)
Preparation:
1. Chop the onion, put 2 Tbsp of oil in a pan and sauté the onion until golden. Remove from the heat.
2. Grate the potato and add the other ingredients including the onion and refrigerate for half an hour.
3. Form small balls and dip in the egg and then coat with breadcrumbs.
Options:
4. Flatten the balls. Heat 3-4 Tbsp of oil in a pan and fry the patties until they are golden on both sides. Remove from the pan and let drain on a plate lined with paper towels. You can add a bit more oil to the pan and then you won’t need to flatten the balls as much.
Heat a pan with enough oil to cover the bottom half of the balls and fry them on both sides.
To bake:
Preheat an oven to 180°C. Grease parchment paper, flatten the balls and bake one side for around 30 minutes and then the other side for around 20 minutes.
