Shawarma recipe
I can’t stress how delicious this is. This is one of my favorite recipes and I make it all the time.
I put out an amazing spread of salads, pitas, baked potatoes, and this incredible shawarma. This was finger-licking good! And the best part is that it’s so easy to make!
Perfect for busy moms like me. An easy and fail-proof lunch for the kids.
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
2 large onions
700 grams turkey shawarma meat, cut into small pieces (ask the butcher to do this)
100 grams lamb fat – not mandatory but adds a lot of flavor(the butcher recommended this)
2 heaped tsp of shawarma seasoning
1/3 tsp cumin
1 Tbsp chicken bouillon
Ground black pepper
Salt (if needed, to taste)
Preparation:
1. Halve the onion and cut into thin slices. Put 3-4 Tbsp of oil in a pan and sauté the onion until slightly golden. It takes a while. Stir occasionally.
2. Add the shawarma meat and sauté 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until the turkey changes color. Add the spices and sauté for 2 more minutes while stirring.
3. Cut the fat into small cubes and add to the shawarma, sautéing for a couple of minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning and remove from the heat.
Served with baked potatoes, tahini, vegetable salad and pita bread.
Good to know…
The fat isn’t mandatory. The shawarma just isn’t the real deal without the shawarma seasoning. Use a lot of onion, it gives so much flavor.
