Zaatar sticks from malawach

These are a real treat. Such a simple and tasty recipe for savory sticks that take almost no time and no effort to make. Serve with soup or a salad, or if you want to add a great accompaniment to your lunch or dinner,
add sweet potato fritters and sour cream dip and witness the happy campers you’ll have at home. Be warned, though, these sticks are addictive!

Ingredients:

3 malawach
1 egg
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp za’atar
1 tsp sesame
Ground black pepper
Salt

Preparation:

1. Preheat an oven to 180°C.

2. Take the malawach out of the freezer. Wait around a minute until it thaws somewhat, and then cut each malawach into around 8 strips. You can use a pizza cutter for this.

3. Beat the egg and brush on the sticks. Mix the oil and seasoning together and brush this over the sticks.

*4. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden. It’s important to take them out of the oven in time.

Good to know…
This is one of those recipes that you make and then serve immediately. It doesn’t work well when made in advance.
