Sheet Pan Pizza: Easy Homemade Square Pizza
This sheet pan pizza is the ultimate cozy, homemade treat, perfect for gathering the family around the table. This method creates a thick, satisfying square pizza with wonderful chewiness in the middle and a lovely, crisp edge.
The joy of this recipe is in the rich, comforting flavors: the bright tomato sauce blends perfectly with the salty, melted cheese, creating those long, stringy pulls we all love.
Plus, cutting the finished pizza into squares is much simpler than triangles, and the shape is perfect for children to hold easily.
It fills the kitchen with that wonderful, homey aroma of baking dough. It’s a simple, fuss-free way to
enjoy authentic, incredible pizza flavor right from your oven.
Baking sheet
Ingredients:
420 g flour (3 cups)
3/4 tbsp dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tbsp salt
80 ml olive/canola oil
260 ml warm water (a little more than a cup)
Additional ingredients:
Ketchup
Sliced olives
Thinly sliced cherry tomatoes
Corn
Thinly sliced mushrooms
Quartered red onion
Grated/diced cheese
Preparation:
- 1.) In the mixer bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and sugar. Mix lightly, then add the salt, olive oil, and finally the water. Use the dough hook to process the ingredients until a smooth, soft dough is formed.
Gather the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it proof gently for about 1.5 – 2 hours. The dough should double in size. That’s your sign that it’s ready!
– - 2.) Flatten the dough on top of a parchment paper (this is the most important tip so you don’t get stuck!) into a large rectangle. Cut the dough into squares the size of 8×8 cm.
Easy Prep Trick: Use the parchment paper to transfer the cut dough directly to the baking sheet as is. No need to fuss with moving each square individually!
– - 3.) Spread generously with ketchup (or pizza sauce), sprinkle with cheese, add your favorite toppings and sprinkle a bit of coarse salt.
– - 4.) Preheat the oven in advance to 200°C/392°F.
– - 5.) Bake the pizza for about minutes, or until the cheese bubbles and the dough turns golden. Bonus: The addictive smell is already filling the whole house!
– - 6.) Take the tray out from the oven and run a sharp knife over all of the cuts again to separate the pizza squares from each other. It’s best to do this while the pizza is still hot.
This recipe proves that there’s nothing better than a good, homemade pizza. Try it, enjoy, and bon appétit!
