Eeshel Donuts (Sufganiyot) Recipe 5 Minute Prep

These donuts are wonderful! Here is a donut recipe whose secret lies in just three ingredients. That’s all you need, and there aren’t even any eggs, either. There’s no need to proof the dough, flatten it or deal with any of the usual mess that comes with yeast donuts. This is the easiest recipe you could ask for, and if you don’t believe me, you simply must make them and see the results for yourself.

It’s unbelievable that such soft, delicious donuts come out of so few ingredients. I personally couldn’t stop snacking on them, they are truly excellent! No mixer is needed, and frankly, there are barely any ingredients. Hand-mixing took me just a minute, and in five minutes, maybe even less, I already had delicious donuts. Can it get any better than that?

Most importantly: it’s best to double the recipe. These disappear so quickly, you’ll regret not making more. And one last thing: all the tips written at the bottom of the recipe will help you achieve a perfect result!

18 Small donuts

Ingredients:

140 g flour (cup)
1 teaspoon baking powder
200 g eshel (cup)
40 g sugar (2 tablespoons)

Sugar for coating

Preparation:

    1. 1.) Preheat a medium pot or pan with deep oil over a little more than medium heat. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, eshel and baking powder until a smooth and liquid batter is formed.
    2. 2. Fill a piping bag with the batter and pipe directly into the hot oil. Note: As you start piping, cut the end with scissors.
    3. 3. Fry until golden. Stir occasionally. Once golden, remove to a paper towel.
    4. 4. Wait 10 – 20 seconds and coat the donuts with sugar.

💡 The “Why Not?” Corner (Tips and Humor)

*Why not make donuts in 5 minutes? Because the “I don’t have enough time” excuse doesn’t work here!

*The Last-Minute Tip: Nobody makes donuts in advance. They are not “spare clothes.” But! The nice thing about these eshel donuts is that they are ready at the last minute. Why? Because if you let them rest, they might lose their cute, beautiful shape. So it’s better to make them a second before the guests arrive, and feel great about how warm and delicious these donuts are. And in the worst case? If there are any leftovers, you can warm them up again the next day as a method to get rid of the leftovers.

*The Unorganized Person’s Tip: No piping bag? No problem. Use two spoons: one to scoop and the second one to push.
