Chocolate Filled French Toast
Warm chocolate that bursts in every bite ❤️
Do you love warm chocolate that bursts in every bite? What a wonderful dessert for children, an amazing chocolate bite, and all because of a leftover Challah from Shabbat.
Aviv asked me for “French toast with chocolate,” and I can’t say no to him – he gives me a smile from the heart and I go to the kitchen.
And if we’re being serious, this is a classic Sunday recipe. Who doesn’t know the leftover Challah remains from the weekend? Bread with chocolate of course, a very simple recipe, 3-4 ingredients and it’s great.
A burst of warm chocolate from inside the Challah… I’m warning you that whoever eats it tends to cover themselves with chocolate! Aviv didn’t stop smiling and his whole face was covered in chocolate.
2 servings
Ingredients:
4 slices of sweet Challah
100g dark chocolate
1 large egg (L)
2 tablespoons milk
Preparation:
1. Whisk the egg, vanilla extract, and milk in a wide, deep bowl.
-
2. Trim the crusts from the slices. Place 3 chocolate squares on the top part and 3 on the bottom part. Roll the slice tightly from top to bottom, and immediately dip it in the egg mixture on all sides. The egg wash seals the roll and keeps the chocolate inside.
-
3. Heat a pan with oil (or oil and butter). Fry the roll on all sides until it is golden. Transfer to a paper towel.
-
4. When you take a bite, the warm chocolate bursts out. The outside is crispy, the bread is soft, and the chocolate is melted.

Wait, before you start… ❤️ Here are some answers to make it easy for you:
Which chocolate to use? 🍫 Whatever you like. Dark chocolate has a stronger taste, or milk chocolate for a sweeter taste. Aviv prefers milk chocolate—it melts well.
Will the roll open during frying? 🧐 No. The egg acts as glue. Tip: start frying with the folded side facing down. The heat closes it immediately.
Can I use regular bread? 🍞 Yes, but use soft white bread. If it is hard to fold, flatten the bread with a rolling pin before adding the chocolate.
Do I need deep oil? 🍳 No. A thin layer of oil or butter in the pan is enough. You only need to brown the roll on all sides.
