Easy Parve Sufganiyot: Always Successful Recipe
I’ve decided to completely revolutionize the way I make donuts! I really wanted to change the shape and upgrade them to make them even better. When I tell the kids I’m making donuts, and then serve them these spiral-shaped donuts, there’s no bigger surprise!
No child or adult can resist these spiral-shaped donuts. They are simple, soft, and it’s all thanks to that amazing dough. Just look at the air bubbles, it’s like magic! These bubbles make the donuts airy, juicy, soft, and delicious, and you get all this without having to fuss in the kitchen for hours.
And of course, who says you only have to make them for Hanukkah? You can enjoy this golden treat all year round.
16 Donuts
Ingredients:
250 g flour (2 cups less 3 tablespoons)
Half a tablespoon of dry yeast (5 g) / 15 g of fresh yeast
30 g of sugar (a heaped tablespoon)
Half a teaspoon of salt
60 ml of oil (a quarter cup)
150 ml of warm water (more than half a cup)
Whipped egg (in strips)
A deep plate with sugar
Preparation:
1.) Place the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, oil, and water in the mixer and knead until a smooth and very soft dough is formed. Stop occasionally to unstick the dough if it sticks, and continue kneading.
–
2.) The dough will be very soft and slightly sticky. Gather it into a ball, cover, and let it rise for 2 hours.
–
3.) Cut a parchment paper into 16 squares. Flatten the dough into a rectangle the size of .
It is recommended to wait a few minutes and then cut into long, thick strips, 4 cm wide.
–
4.) Brush the strips with a whisked egg. Gently roll each strip into a spiral-shape (the dough is soft), place on a square of the parchment paper, and let it rise for 25 minutes.
–
5.) Preheat a pan or pot with deep oil over a little more than medium heat. Gently slide the spirals into the hot oil in an upside-down position, meaning: the part that was the top becomes the bottom during frying.
–
6.) Fry the spirals until golden on both sides. Strain, wait 20 seconds for all excess oil to drip off, and coat with sugar from all directions.
