This Caramelized Onion Rice recipe is truly fantastic: it’s the perfect way to bring something simple yet spectacular to the table. It is ideal for an easy lunch or for making a beautiful impression when you have guests. The simple process ensures you get that lovely, fluffy one-by-one rice texture that everybody enjoys. And best of all, the elegant way you serve it transforms a classic side dish into a centerpiece, making this recipe a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that comes together quickly.

3 Servings

Ingredients:

1 cup basmati rice (240 ml measuring cup)
2 cups water
3/4 tablespoon soup powder
Half a teaspoon of salt
Half a teaspoon of black pepper

3 medium white/purple onions, cut into small cubes
Salt – pepper

Preparation:

1.) Preheat a pot with 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add the rice, water, and spices. Boil, cover, reduce the heat and cook for 30 minutes. Afterwards, turn off the heat and leave the pot covered for an additional 10 minutes.

2.) Preheat a wide pan with 4 – 5 tablespoons of oil and patiently fry the diced onion for about 15 – 20
minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

3.) Making the shape: Take a medium-sized bowl and place a small flipped bowl in its center. Then, press the rice evenly all around and flip it onto a plate. Carefully remove the small bowl and fill the
resulting space with the fried onion.

4.) Sprinkle some chopped parsley and serve.
