Sweet and Creamy Semolina Porridge

I make this amazing porridge with minimal effort. It takes me less than 10 minutes from stove to table. On cold winter days this is one of the best things to eat. A nice hot bowl of cream of wheat with all the toppings.
I like to play around with the toppings and surprise the kids with something new each time.
By the way, it’s so filling that you don’t need to serve it with anything else.
Some recipes are fun to make

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:

480 ml milk (2 cups)
240 ml water (1 cup)
8 tablespoons semolina
60 g sugar (3 tablespoons) or to taste
Pinch of salt

Preparation:

  1. 1. Pour the milk into a large pan and heat over medium heat. In the meantime, thoroughly mix the water and semolina in a bowl. Once the milk is hot, slowly whisk in the semolina mixture. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for two minutes while stirring frequently to avoid lumps. Once the porridge
  2. thickens, stir in the sugar and salt, then remove from the heat.
  3. 2. Divide the porridge into bowls and serve immediately.

Endless Options:
*Before pouring the porridge into the bowl, place 2-3 pieces of chocolate (any type you like) at the bottom. Next, pour the porridge on top, allowing the heat to melt the chocolate. My son loves the surprise of finding melted chocolate as he eats — his face just lights up with happiness!

  • *Add a heaping tablespoon of date syrup, honey, or maple syrup to the porridge (or drizzle it on top).
  • *Sprinkle chocolate chips on the porridge before serving.
  • *Sprinkle cinnamon, grate chocolate, or add banana slices and crushed walnuts onto the porridge before serving.
  • *Add a small cube of butter.
  • *Experiment with different toppings such as jam, milk, or chocolate spread. In short, use whatever your heart desires!

Tips and tricks:
*Start with less sugar and adjust to taste. If you’re planning to add sweet toppings when serving, it is best to use less sugar in the porridge itself.
*Porridge is best enjoyed fresh. It’s not the same when refrigerated and saved for later.
*Porridge isn’t just for kids — adults love it too! Sometimes even they ask for hidden chunks of chocolate. 🙂

It’s a winning recipe! Ten minutes is all it takes to make and serve this bowl of deliciousness.
