Duvshaniot (Honey Cookies) Recipe
This is the easiest and simplest recipe for honey cookies — they turn out wonderful, with a strong
flavor of honey and with a soft and addictive texture. How do I know if they’re good?
They served honey cookies at school and Aviv told me: “Mom, the honey cookies you made are much better.” It reminds me of the honey cookies that the grandmothers were making back then. I’m already saying that you don’t need to cool them down, all you have to do is just shape into balls and send straight to the oven. While the honey cookies bake, cracks form on them and open slightly.
There is also some powdered sugar on top. I couldn’t resist, I immediently took a bite out of the warm honey cookie. I’m willing to eat these honey cookies every day 🙂
28 Honey cookies
Ingredients:
Egg
1/4 cup Demerara brown sugar
60 g sugar (1/4 cup)
80 ml oil (1/3 cup)
90 g honey/soybean (1/4 cup)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Half a teaspoon of baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
280 g flour (2 cups)
Preparation:
1.) Whisk the eggs and the sugars for about a minute. Add the oil and the honey and mix until they blend.
2.) Mix flour, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda. Add to the egg mixture and mix until smooth dough.
3.) Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and place a baking paper on a pan.
4.) Make a bowl with powdered sugar in it. Work with wet hands, make ball shapes and coat with the powdered sugar. Bake for 10 minutes, cracks form and then leave them aside.
