Quick Green Beans

Only 10 minutes from pan to table, this is one of the quickest side dishes I’ve made and definitely one of the tastiest. I always have a bag of frozen green beans in my freezer because they make a wonderful accompaniment to most meals.

Makes 4-5 servings

Ingredients:

800 grams green beans
5 cloves of garlic
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
Ground black pepper
Salt

Preparation:

1. If the green beans are frozen and you don’t have the time or the patience to wait for them to defrost, bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the beans for two minutes, then drain.

2. Slice the garlic, heat a pan or a wok with 3 Tbsp of oil and sauté the garlic for a minute, add the green beans and stir-fry for around three minutes, then add the other ingredients and stir-fry for another minute or less, then remove from the heat.

Serve with sesame coated chicken fingers and baked chips

Good to know…
If you defrost the green beans, you can skip the first step. It’s important to cook the green beans until they are tender crisp, meaning soft but with a bit of a bite to them, not mushy. You can substitute or combine with yellow beans. This is one of the quickest side dishes to make so I wouldn’t even bother making it ahead of time.
